As I sit and ponder what my wonderful customers will want to see in Sallie home for spring, and especially for Mother's Day, I can't help but tell you what a proud mother I am.
My adorable and talented son Philip Smith is the designer, manufacturer, and owner of an incredibly successful company in Buena Vista, Colorado called Steel Strike Leather Products.
So multi-talented that he is, Philip was asked by the owners of the newly renovated Denver Mart, John Doyle and Ted Herrick, to redesign the second floor into a showroom for all of that fabulous and ever so sophisticated high end Western furniture that we all adore. They are calling the space, "The Great Western Show" space.
I had the pleasure of attending the opening. When I walked in the door, my first feeling, even before I could see Philip's space, was thank goodness that I raised my children to love and ride horses, to love nature and the outdoors … because it was all there to behold…the aura of it all.
How smart John and Ted are to realize how important Western interior design is and will always be.
This whole new section was created for interior designers to view the most fabulous hand-tooled leather furniture made from beautiful woods, to see custom upholstered furniture made by the best carpenters, and then for them to be able to put if all together for their best customers. Can't you just hear J.R, saying, "Sue Ellen, get our decorator on the phone and have him call Philip Smith and get me some of that Steel Strike furniture for my office? I want it to look first-class and real important, you hear."
Not only is Philip an entrepreneur but he is a true artist. Oh, how proud I am of him and how lucky I am to be his mother.
