Tobacco Leaf Shell Dish is one of the most unique pieces in the Tobacco Leaf collection. Features an extra special gold detailing along one side that creates the look of a shell. This extravagant design was originally made in China, probably for export to the Portuguese and Brazilian markets. This was the most highly prized of all the 18th century dinner patterns. It's easy to see why, with its twenty-seven colors and 22K gold, based on an original displayed in the Metropolitan Museam of Art. Features a small phoenix bird perched on the leaves of the flowering Nicotiana (Tobacco) plant. The inside is embellished with a beautiful botanical border. One of Mottahedeh's most popular and longest running patterns. Great for serving or simply displaying in your home.
